| Soon to come will be this sharps 45-110 caliber, 1874 rifle. The action was built by C Sharps Arms Co.
This gun is engraved on the theme of the Nez Perce War. The portrait on the right side of the receiver is that of Chief Joseph and below his portrait is his name in Nez Perce. [ Thunder rolling over the mountains] On the lock plate in front of his tepee is an engraving of the only known photograph of Chief Looking Glass. The portrait has been reversed to fit the scene. Not shown and on the reverse side is a portrait of Gen. Oliver Howard, the general who commanded the Nez Perce War. This piece has yet to be color case hardened. After case hardening, parts of the scenes will be French grayed to add effects to the engraving. To the right is a copy of the only confirmed photo of Looking Glass for comparison. |
